Game 15: Pistons at Raptors!

A Familiar Face

  • Raptors looking to bounce back after a loss at home to the New Orleans Pelicans on MOnday night. The Detroit Pistons come to town after cooling down since getting off to a hot start
  • Tonight marks the return of the most winningest head coach in Raptors history as Dwane Casey signed a 4-year deal to become the head coach of the Pistons after being fired by Toronto in June 2018.
  • Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond have been playing exceptionally well for Casey and have helped Detroit become the best rebounding team in the NBA. Considering that's one of the reasons Toronto lost on Monday, they'll need to have their rebounding fixed to secure a win tonight

The Grateful Dead - "Casey Jones"

I was a fan of Dwane Casey, but I understand why Masai Ujiri let him go. A Change needed to happen and at the time Kawhi Leonard wasn't on the table. Wish nothing but the best for Dwane, he's the only coach to take the Raptors to the Eastern Conference Finals after all

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Carbonated Piston Slinger

This drink is sure to cause some internal combustion! Mix some rum, some gin and some lemon water. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and you're all set!

Game 63: Raptors at Pistons!

Raptors are on a back to back as they head to Detroit after sweeping the Atlanta Hawks at home. Detroit is a home away from home for the Raptors as Toronto fans travel in hordes to cheer for their team in the Motor City!

  • With a win tonight Toronto will become the first team in the NBA to secure a 2018 playoff run! I wasn't the first one to say it, so if they lose don't blame the jinx on me!
  • Nothing much has changed with the Pistons since we saw them last week. Reggie Jackson and Jon Leuer remain out.
  • Delon Wright stubbed his toe last night and left in discomfort thankfully there was no breakage, but he might be held out just as a precaution. No word on OG Anunoby or the newly acquired Nigel Hayes

Everclear - "Detroit"

How serendipitous! I'm on a big Everclear kick lately, it's a shame about what happened to Art Alexakis and the band, going through bankruptcy and but it seems they've pulled through. "Detroit" is from their EP White Trash Hell.

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Stroh's Bohemian Style Pilsner

Tonight's beer of choice is brought to us by Brew Detroit. It's a German pilsner with 5.5% ABV and 33 IBU. Goes for about $5.50 a pint at the Michigan Beer Company

Game 59: Pistons at Raptors!

Raptors ran outta gas on Friday against Milwaukee. They're looking to get back on the winning track tonight as the new look Detroit Pistons come rolling into town. Pistons! Raptors! Let's Go!

  • The biggest change here is that the Pistons acquired Blake Griffin from the LA Clippers right before the trade deadline. Detroit gave up Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley and Boban Marjonivic, as well as a few picks
  • Reggie Jackson continues to be sidelined with an injury for the Pistons as well as Jon Leuer. Ish Smith has been getting starting PG minutes and is always difficult for the Raptors to deal with. Raptors should be at full strength tonight
  • Jonas Valanciunas had a great game on Friday night including a buzzer beating dunk to send the game into OT. Valanciunas always plays well against Andre Drummond. Look for him to be a factor again tonight

The Detroit Cobras - "Cha Cha Twist"

The Detroit Cobras are a modern indie/garage rock group who generally only perform covers of old swing tunes and classics from the roarin' 20's.  "Cha Cha Twist" is from their first album Mink, Rat or Rabbit and was originally performed by Brice Coefield, but is really older than time itself.

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Old Detroit Amber Ale

From the Frankenmuth Brewery, it's a darker amber at 5.6%abv. Hints of caramel, fruit undercurrent and a grassy hop finish. Served best in a pilsner glass.

Preseason Game 2: Clippers at Raptors!

Yeah I know officially the game is booked as a home game for LA, but I got it backwards on Sunday so i'm switching it up for tonight's header. Raptors are still in the Island State as they face the new look Los Angeles Clippers in Honolulu, Hawaii.

  • Raptors won the first match-up between these two teams on Sunday. It was a good showcase for the young talent trying to make the team on both sides
  • Fred Van Vleet and Delon Wright looked good for the Raptors as did Norman Powell. Though we knew he's going to turn out pretty well. Hopefully we get to see more of Alfonzo McKinnie, KJ McDaniels and few others tonight
  • The Clippers have an interesting rookie prospect in Milos Teodosic. Though he's 30 years old he's considered a rookie because it's his first year in the NBA, having played the majority of his career in Europe
Tonight's Raptor Track!

The Strokes - "Hawaii"

The Strokes have always seemed to just bounce off me. Never a huge fan and no real disdain for them either, but lately i've been checking them out more and more. I Like what I hear. "Hawaii" was the b-side to the single "Jukebox" released in 2005.

Tonight's Game Day Drink

Great Lakes Alberta Clipper

Sure it comes out of Ohio based brewing company Great Lakes, but it is called Alberta Clipper and at 7.8% abv it'll likely get you drunk. It's a late game so don't have too many of these, but it's the drink of choice as the NBA Preseason Hawaii games finish up tonight

Game 53: Clippers at Raptors!

A win is a win! No matter who it's over. Raptors are back home for the last time before the All-Star Break and they look to even the series between themselves and the Los Angeles Clippers

  • Clippers played yesterday in what was Paul Pierce's final regular season stop in his former home of Boston. Wonder if the Raptors will send him off tonight as we never have to worry about him knocking us out of the playoffs in a early round again
  • It looks as though DeMar DeRozan will be playing tonight. He's missed a few games with a sprained ankle. Patrick Patterson out with a banged up knee
  • Chris Paul is done for the season as well for LA after undergoing surgery for a torn finger ligament. He's also out of the All-Star game, which is unfortunate for any player
  • FORMER RAPTOR ALERT: Alan Anderson suits up for the Clippers. He was floating around the D_League back in 2011 when the Raptors gave him a ten day contract. Liking what they saw they signed him for the rest of the year and then to a 2-year deal that expired in 2013. He has since played for Brooklyn, Washington and now the Clippers.
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Run The Jewels - "Banana Clipper"

Don't know what they're going on about here, but hey Run The Jewels are A-Ok

Game 14: Raptors at Clippers!

What a bunch of horseshit.

I'm sure anyone interested in the NBA heard about the abyssmal call to end the Kings-Raptors game in Sacramento's favour last night, so I won't go into details. Just another day in the life of a Raptors fan.

Tonight they're in Los Angeles to take on the top of the league Clippers

  • It appears the Raptors will launch a protest against the NBA after the circumstances of last night's game. Not sure what could come of it, but at least it's something
  • The Clippers as I mentioned own the best record in the NBA and sit atop the Western Conference. Tonight they'll also get Wes Johnson back who has been out with an ankle injury
  • It's another tough back-to-back for Toronto, but hopefully some of that anger can be used to secure a key road win tonight at the Staples Centre
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Metallica - "Here Comes Revenge"

Not only do the Raptors have revenge on their mind which they're willing to take out on anyone in their path, but Metallica released their 10th studio album on Friday Hardwired...To Self-Distruct. So far I like what I hear...this is a fitting song from the record
