Playoffs Round 4: Game 6: Raptors at Warriors!

Shimmy Loose

  • The Series goes back to Oakland as the Raptors fell short of closing out the Warriors on Monday. It's back to business and Toronto will need to stop Klay Thompson and Steph Curry for a shot at the Championship
  • Kevin Durant went down in the first quarter of Game 5 with a ruptured achillies and is expected to miss the entire 2019-2020 season. Kevon Looney also left the game but is probable for tonight
  • All it will take is one win for Toronto to make it to the promised land. OG Anunoby is available, but has yet to get the call from rookie coach Nick Nurse. Likely due to him worrying about Anunoby's conditioning
  • Win or lose this is the last NBA game to ever be played in the Oracle Arena, as the Warriors are getting a new stadium for next season
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Ecstasy Of Gold

The Raptors are going for the Gold, they sometimes wear White & Gold and they are in Golden State. Also this track is just so damn epic, needs to be played loud!

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Delerium Tremens

This Belgian Strong Pale Ale is world famous and was named The Best Beer in The World for 2008. It comes in hard at 8.5% and it's logo is a pink elephant, as it has been known to cause hallucinations. Whether the Raptors lose and you want to numb your pain, or they win and you want to lose your mind. Delerium is a good choice for you

Raptors lead series 3-2!

Playoff Round 4: Game 5: Warriors at Raptors!

  • Game 5 back in Toronto and the Raptors hold a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. I know what everyone is thinking. The anticipation is there. Those of us who have been there for so long can hardly comprehend the reality of this game. Those along for the ride on the bandwagon are hoping they are about to witness history
  • Kevin Durant, who has missed every game in the NBA Finals so far, is listed as a game time decision. But I think we all know, given the implications of this game, #35 will be suited up and ready to go come tip-off
  • Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney both came back in the Warriors' loss to the Raptors Friday night.
  • It's all systems go, full steam ahead. You're holding the rope and the sword. Just let them fall
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Classified - "Oh, Canada"

I know there is no real mention of the Raptors or Basketball even, but since they're letting the crowd sing the lead on the anthem tonight. I figured there was no better song than this

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Great Canadian Beer

Thought picking champagne might be a bit too premature or presumptuous. So grab some freinds or gather somewhere you know fellow Raptor fans will be and have a cold one. You're not gonna want to miss this

Raptors lead series 3-1!

Playoff Round 4: Game 4: Raptors at Warriors!

Road Regrets

  • Raptors took game 3 in Oakland in commanding fashion. 123-109. Danny Green hit 6 3's for 18 points. Taking him to having the highest 2 point shooting % in NBA Finals history
  • Klay Thompson didn't play on Wednesday night, but he will tonight. Recovering from a strained hamstring. Kevin Durant is officially out along with Kevon Looney
  • OG Anunoby is still good to go, but has yet to see action. Maybe tonight he'll get the call
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Wild Light  - "California On My Mind"

This was my song for last game until it was announced that Metallica was doing the National Anthem, so i'll use it for Game 4!! FUCK OAKLAND!!!

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Kichesippi Natural Blonde

I like my beer blonde, my women brunette and my Raptors in the NBA Finals!!! Kichesippi what??

Raptors lead series 2-1!

Playoff Round 4: Game 3: Raptors at Warriors!

Here Comes Revenge

  • The Warriors bounced back in Game 2 and stole one in Toronto. It really came down to one bad quarter for the Raptors who let Golden State go on a 18-0 run in the third
  • Kevon Looney left the game and was later diagnosed with a fractured collar bone. He is out for an indeterminate amount of time and Klay Thompson sprained his hamstring and is questionable for game 3
  • No word on whether Kevin Durant will play either game in Oakland, but Toronto's OG Anunoby is cleared to play
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Metallica - "Here Comes Revenge"

Metallica are performing the Star-Spangled Banner tonight at Oracle Arena!!! I'm so conflicted! My favourite band supporting the opposing team of my favourite team??? Not really, Raptors all the way, but it kinda makes me wish we had Metallica instead of Drake. Nothing against him, I love his enthusiasm and love and support of Toronto and the Raptors, but Metallica at a Toronto home game would be my dream!

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Playoff Round 4: Game 2: Warriors at Raptors!

Jurassic World

  • Raptors took game 1 against the Warriors at home! Pascal Siakam had a phenomenal Finals debut scoring 32 points and just bringing the hustle in general
  • Kevin Durant is still a no-go for tonight's game. Andre Igoudala who came down awkward on his leg in game 1 will play
  • Big news for Raptors fans as OG Anunoby, who has missed every game of the Playoffs so far due to an emergency appendectomy, will go tonight!
Tonight's Raptor Track!

The Used - "Blue & Yellow"

The Used's debut self-titled album has to be on the top 100 list of albums from the years 2000-2009. So many great songs and so many great memories that go along with them. "Blue & Yellow" is one of those songs.

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Warrior Whiskey

Playoffs Round 4: Game 1: Warriors at Raptors!

The Raptors Are In The NBA Finals!

  • Yes. You read that right. The NBA Finals start tonight and the Toronto Raptors have home court advantage over the visiting reigning champs, the Golden State Warriors
  • The Warriors will be without Kevin Durant for a few games it seems as he injured his ankle in the previous series against Portland. DeMarcus Cousins however will be suiting up for Golden State, he adds a new dynamic that the Raptors haven't really seen yet this Playoffs
  • OG Anunoby might return during this series, but tonight is unlikely
  • We should enjoy this as Raptors fans, don't get too discouraged by losses and cherish every win. The Year Of The Raptor!!
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Funeral For A Friend - "History"

We are witnessing sports History. Which is great, especially for Toronto and this country. The NBA Finals have never been played outside of the USA until tonight. We Truly Are The North

Playoffs Round 3: Game 6: Bucks at Raptors!

Get Yourselves in Ready Position!

  • Game 6 in the 6ix!! Raptors took control of the series for the first time with a big win on Thursday night! One more win puts them in the NBA Finals
  • It was a group effort from Toronto with Fred Van Vleet drilling 7 threes, in fact the raptors hit more 3 point shots than 2 point shots!
  • Expect Milwaukee to bring everything they got in a do or die game that they need to win to send the series back to Milwaukee. This is gonna be good!
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Rise Against - "Six Ways To Sunday"

Game 6 in the 6ix!! If you can't get up for this game just go to sleep for 11 weeks! Seriously.

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Any Mixed Six Pack!

There is a theme of the Six tonight, as if you couldn't tell! Grab your favourite mixed six pack and let's all hope to watch history unfold!

Playoffs Round 3: Game 5: Raptors at Bucks!

Full Steam Ahead

  • It's a best of 3 series once again. For the Raptors this is nothing new as their last match up against the Sixers went to 7 games. For the Bucks, this is the first time in the playoffs they've been beaten twice. Game 5 in Milwaukee tonight
  • Kawhi Leonard was in good spirits at shoot around earlier and will go, Fred Van Vleet was not at shoot around, likely due to the birth of his son, but is also playing tonight
  • Be sure Coach Bud has his players inspired and ready to unleash hell on Toronto tonight. Raptors need to be focused and disciplined to withstand not only the players, but the ravenous Milwaukee crowd
Tonight's Raptor Track!

The Arkells - "Drake's Dad"

Toronto's Global Ambassador Drake has been all the talk in the past 2 games, due to some ribbing and junk-speaking to the Bucks during game 4's beat down. He clearly lives rent free in all their heads

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Dirty Little Freak

This one's perfect as it encompasses something from both teams! The DuClaw Brewing Company Baltimore, Maryland brings us Dirty Little Freak a strong Brown Ale that comes in at 5.8% ABV

Series Tied 2-2!

Playoffs Round 3: Game 4: Bucks at Raptors!

Overtime Dramatics!

  • Raptors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in game 3 in a double overtime thriller! Here's hoping it doesn't require that kind of extra play for Toronto to even the series at 2-2 tonight
  • Kawhi Leonard logged some heavy minutes, but when you're the team MVP and maybe more, 52 minutes to get a win is just something that comes with the territory
  • No lineup changes for either team as of yet, though Nick Nurse teased some potential tweaking for game 3. OG and McCaw remain out
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Motorhead - "The Claw"

This one is dedicated to #2.  Playing his heart out, through pain and consequence. Not making any excuses for himself and letting it all bleed out on the floor. Offensively and defensively. Hopefully this isn't your last home game as a Toronto Raptor. The Claw. #2. The Man, The Myth. Kawhi Leonard

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Taster's Choice

I know it's a bit of a cop-out, but I found this image online and really wanted to us it. Was looking for some kind of hunting season booze, but of course, Beer Season is just too perfect

Bucks lead series 2-1!

Playoffs Round 3: Game 2: Raptors at Bucks!

No Let Up

  • A phenomenal performance from Kyle Lowry couldn't propel the Raptors past the Bucks in Game 1, who fell 108-100 after a fourth quarter collapse. Kyle hit a career high 7 threes and lead the team in energy all night
  • Brook Lopez was a huge factor for the Bucks, who ended with 29 points. He's a different big than Marc Gasol is used to, but I fully expect Toronto's coaching staff to have a game plan for game 2
  • Though Patrick McCaw hasn't seen action in a few games he's listed as day-to-day due to personal reasons. OG Anunoby still has no definite time to return. Same players out for Bucks.
Tonight's Raptor Track!

System Of A Down - "Deer Dance"

Did a System of A Down song for game 1 and realized they have another song suitable for this matchup. Off the same album, Toxicity, it's "Deer Dance"

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Old Milwaukee

Is this beer even still around? I used to have it when I was younger but it gave me heartburn, kinda like the Milwaukee Bucks....

Playoff Round 3: Game 1: Raptors at Bucks!

Eastern Conference Finals!

  • There's the picture that you've seen a thousand times since Sunday. Of Kawhi's historic shot that again you've seen a thousand times since Sunday. But....in case you haven't...

  • In what will go down as the greatest moment in Raptors history Kawhi Leonard hit an impossible shot to take game 7 and seal the series against the Philadelphia 76ers. 4 games to 3.
  • It doesn't get any easier for Toronto as Giannis Antentokoumpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have been waiting patiently since eliminating the Boston Celtics in 5 games. Rebounds must be grabbed. 3s must be contested and shots must be made
  • Still OG Anunoby for the Raps as he recovers from appendix surgery. For the Bucks Marc Gasol's brother Pau has yet to play in these playoffs and DJ Wilson is out with a sore ankle.
Tonight's Raptor Track!

System Of A Down - "Bounce!"

That ball doinked off the rim a total of 4 times which seemed to last an eternity. Tonight's song honours those bounces.

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Well, I dunno...my computer just took a dump.

Drink whatever ya want! But get hype and loud for Canada's NBA team!

Playoff Round 1: Game 3: Raptors at Magic!

Sink Florida, Sink!

  • The Series heads down to Orlando with each team taking a game in Toronto. Game 2 saw a dominant performance from the Raptors, specifically Kawhi Leonard who poured in 37 points, Marc Gasol played well and Kyle Lowry bounced back from his scoreless game with 22.
  • Patrick McCaw, who has been sitting out due to a thumb injury might go tonight as he is listed as probable for the Raptors and OG Anunoby still is out after his appendectomy.
  • The Magic are down 4 players, Timofey Mozgov, Markelle Fultz, Isaiah Briscoe and Mo Bamba, whom they miss especially with Nikola Vucevic struggling. No let up from Toronto now. Gotta take one or both of these Orlando Games.
Tonight's Raptor Track!

The Ugly Americans - "Orlando"

Maybe next time i'll pick some real Disney, Mickey Mouse shit since the magic kingdom is just down the road from where the Magic play, but for now here's The Ugly Americans

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Disney's Magical Star Cocktail

Something for the parents to pass the time at Disney World while the kiddies enjoy the park I guess. X-Rated Fusion Liquer, Coconut Rum and Pineapple Juice make up this fruity delight

Playoff Round 1: Game 2: Magic at Raptors!

Bounce Back!

  • Well game 1 didn't go exactly as many Raptor fans hoped, but it went the way some expected. Raptors are notorious for losing the first game in a playoff series. They even did so against the Pacers in 2015 when they went to the Eastern Conference Finals. Expect a better showing tonight
  • Kyle Lowry scored 0 points on 7 attempts on Saturday, but still had an impressive stat line in assists and rebounds and was just making everyone else on the floor better. I'm sure he'll bounce back in the scoring department
  • A huge game from former Raptor DJ Augustin is what helped the Magic take Game 1. Michael Carter Williams took a hand to the face and left the game with what appeared to be a broken nose, He'll likely be good to go tonight. As might Toronto's Patrick McCaw who was upgraded to questionable with a wounded thumb
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Stacie Orrico - "Bounce Back"

From Seattle, Washington is where we find tonight's Raptor Track songstress. She a mildy successful music in the early 2000s with a strong Xtina vibe. Her last album was in 2006, but it appears she still finds time to tour once in a while

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Jurassic Dark Beer

How come I haven't done this one yet?? From the Dorset Brewing Company, Jurassic Dark is a wheat beer with a rich chocolate and port flavour paired with a forest fruit aroma

Game 82: Raptors at Timberwolves!

Playoffs are coming...

  • It's the final game of the regular season for the Raptors and the final game of the year for the Minnesota Timberwolves. They unveiled a Game Of Thrones themed logo, i guess in honour of the new season starting this weekend. The Raptors have bigger fish to fry however, as the post season looms in their future. Minnesota finds themselves on the outside looking in once again.
  • Elsewhere in the NBA, the Nets, Magic, Hornets, Heat and Pistons are fighting for their playoff lives as the Eastern Conference standings have yet to be finalized. It also has yet to bear Toronto's first round match up
  • Raptors have signed Centre Eric Moreland for the remainder of the season, rounding out their 15 man play off line up. The Timberwolves are down big for their final game. Derrick Rose, Jeff Teague, Robert Covington, Luol Deng, Jerryd Bayless and Taj Gibson are all out on this final game.
Tonight's Raptor Track!

The Tragically Hip - " The Dire Wolf"

The Timberwolves still have one of the best prospects from Canada on their team in Andrew Wiggins and one of the greatest Canadian bands is the Tragically Hip. In honour of their name change tonight, here is the song "The Dire Wolf" from In Violet Light by The Hip

Game 76: Raptors at Knicks!

Big Apple; Small Stakes

  • Raptors hit the road again after a win over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. The Knicks have already been eliminated from Playoff Contention this year, but their focus is all about the off season and the many free agents who might be willing to listen
  • OG Anunoby took a blow to the head on Tuesday and left the game without returning. He passed concussion protocol but is being held out of tonight's line-up as a precaution along with Kawhi Leonard. Raptors have signed Jodie Meeks for the remainder of the season. He'll likely get some burn tonight
  • For the Knicks they have a list of questionable players. Kevin Knox, Dennis Smith Jr,  and Alonzo Trier. Only player listed as out is Noah Vonleh.
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Jideena - "Knickers"

This song is about pants.....yes??

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Whiskey & Coke

With only 6 games left in the regular season, it's time to get serious. For me to warm up to a nice play off blast, I need to start with a few of these sweet babies. Cheers y'all!

Raptors 2nd in East 52-23! Knicks 15th in East 14-60!

Sunday, 24 March 2019

Game 74: Hornets at Raptors!

Home Stretch

  • After a tough loss the Raptors host the Charlotte Hornets who are scrapping and fighting and doing everything they can to get into a playoff position down the stretch
  • Kyle Lowry is listed as questionable with an ankle injury that he suffered last week during the home game against the Knicks. Kawhi will be playing
  • Charlotte is likely going to be without Michael Kidd-Gilchrist due to a concussion and Cody Zeller who is recovering from a knee injury. Former Raptor and fan favourite Bismack Biyombo likely to get the start.
Tonight's Raptor Track!

King Buzzo - "Useless King Of The Punks"

Roger Osborne, also known as Buzz Osborne, also known as King Buzzo is the guitar player, vocalist and main songwriter for the legendary grunge group known as The Melvins. He's also collaborated with Venomous Concept and the Fantomas. This track is from his solo album This Machine Kills Artists.

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Coors Light

Raptors haven't fared too well lately on Sunday games, so let's get back to basics. Sit courtside and have a Coors, the official beer of the Toronto Raptors. Can't you just imagine all the lads sitting around, joshing with each other and the coaches holding a Coors...not drinking of course. Just holding.

Raptors 2nd in East 51-22! Hornets 10th in East 33-39!

Wednesday, 20 March 2019

Game 72: Raptors at Thunder!

Home and Home!

  • Raptors head back out West for their first match against the Oklahoma City Thunder of the 2018-19 season! Thunder are always a pesky adversary, Raptors will need to be at their peak!
  • Kyle Lowry injured his ankle in the win against the Knicks on Monday night, so he's unlikely to go tonight. Serge Ibaka returns from suspension and Fred Van Vleet had played the last 2 games without missing a beat seemingly. Great to have Fred back
  • The Thunder are a tough team who only got tougher this year. Paul George re-signed in the off season, Jerami Grant has improved this year and they picked up Markieff Morris after he was waived by the Wizards. Of course can't forget about #0 Russell Westbrook, who is always a dominant force, he returns from suspension as well tonight. Should be a good one!
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Sutton Foster - "Oklahoma"

This one is from the Stage production Oklahoma!  It always gets suggested whenever the Raptors play the Thunder, so fine, here I am giving in. Thought i'd do a more modern and female take on the song however

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Homegrown American Lager

Best thing I could find with Home in it's title for this home and home that Raptors and Thunder are a part of. I'll try and find another one for Friday night's game in Toronto

Raptors 2nd in East 50-21! Thunder 5th in West 42-28!

Sunday, 3 March 2019

Game 64: Raptors at Pistons!

Home Away From Home!

  • Raptors pulled off an exciting win on Friday night with Kawhi Leonard making the game winning shot putting Toronto over the Blazers 119-117. Kawhi Leonard sits tonight for load management
  • A game in Detroit always comes off like a home game for Toronto due to all the Canadian fans making the trip to watch the game. Former Raptor Coach Dwane Casey makes his home there as coach for the Pistons.
  • Marc Gasol and Jeremy Lin get the start for the Raptors tonight. Pistons have added a few pieces. They got Thon Maker from the Bucks before the trade deadline.
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Royce da 5'9" - "Chips On Pistons"

Hailing from Detroit there is no more fitting song for a game featuring the Pistons than this. Y'know if the playoffs started today, this would be your first round match up

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

The Detroit Dwarf Beer

Copper/amber in colour. Strong at 6.8%! Oof! Perfect drink to go nuts at Little Caesars Arena if you're a Raptors fan!

Raptors 1st in East 46-17! Pistons 8th in East 30-34!

Friday, 1 March 2019

Game 63: Trailblazers at Raptors!

March Madness!

  • Last game of a 4 game homestead before heading down to Detroit on Sunday! The Month of February was kind to the Raptors, going 8-1, with their sole loss coming against the Orlando Magic, which of course yours truly was in attendance for!
  • Raptors have added Jodie Meeks on a 10-day contract to try him out before the end of the season, he played well in the limited minutes he's been getting against Orlando and Boston.
  • Fred Van Vleet is still out with a broken thumb. Evan Turner is out for Portland with a knee injury and Enes Kanter, a Turk, has some immigration issues that will keep him from entering Canada. Other than that Portland has a full squad who are looking great since the All Star Break
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Bon Jovi - "Blaze Of Glory"

The days of hair metal and rollin' down the road songs by dusty, American soft rock bands were a simpler time. If you're too young to have lived through those brief moments of history then please allow Jon Bon Jovi and the boys to enlighten you with "Blaze Of Glory"

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

Marquee Game Night Choice

Tonight's game has been added to ESPN's national broadcast in favour of the Boston/Washington game, so that's a reason to celebrate. Also this week saw the Raptors host their annual Season Ticket Holder's Social night out on the town which saw the likes of Kawhi, OG and Marc Gasol bartending. So take your pick tonight and enjoy it!

Raptors 2nd in East 45-17! Trail Blazers 4th in West 38-23!

Monday, 11 February 2019

Game 58: Nets at Raptors!

Linsanity in the 6ix!

  • You never know what's coming these days for the Raptors as they do everything they can for a shot at the NBA finals and make an aggressive swing at the Buyout market. Today it was announced that Jeremy Lin was bought out by the Atlanta Hawks and he intends to sign with the Raptors
  • Couldn't come at a better time as back up point guard Fred Van Vleet is likely out for a few weeks with a thumb injury. Though it's unlikely Lin plays tonight
  • Brooklyn, who have found themselves an unlikely sixth seed in the East, will be without former Raptor DeMarre Carrol and Spencer Dunwiddie
  • Congrats to D'Angelo Russell for being named to the Eastern Conference All Star team as a reserve on team Giannis
Tonight's Raptor Track!

Meredith Brooks - "Bitch"

Remember when this song was everywhere? It was definitely the peak of her career and it seems she's hung up her guitar in 2007.

Tonight's Game Day Drink!

The Brooklyn Cocktail

Equally as delicious as it's neighbour the Manhattan, the Brooklyn uses dry vermouth instead of sweet. To counterbalance that taste it's recommended to use Amer Picon, though it is admittedly tough to find in North America

Raptors 2nd in East 41-16! Nets 6th in East 29-28!
